About Sunrise School

Sunrise School is a co-educational English Medium School permanently affiliated to the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations, New Delhi. The School follows the ICSE curriculum till the class 10th and ISC for Class 12th. It was established in the year 1991. The school is run by close knitted body of intellectual individuals who are the members of the Governing Body under the Society for Academic Upliftment Darjeeling. The school has been able to reach new heights in imparting quality education to the upcoming generations and also making Education easily accessible to the nearby areas.

The school is located at Lebong near the Gorkha Stadium, under Sports Authority of India ( SAI), 7 kms away from Darjeeling Town in the state of West Bengal. It is surrounded by the freshness of famous Tea Gardens in the sprawling and picturesque valley, at the foothills of Himalayas. In the background lies the enchanting Kanchanjunga quiet and serene beauty of the place provides ideal location to impart quality education.

AIMS & OBJECT OF THE SCHOOL

The school aims at education of the local community especially of the rural areas to help them achieve their academic aspirations. The school stands for academic excellence, development of skills and character formation based on the love of God.
The objective of the school is the integral personal formation of the young and making its own contribution towards a radical transformation of present day social conditions.

The motto, "ATA DEEPA BHAWA" (Be A Light Yourself) is the last sermon of the Buddha that encourages self-enlightment. The school motto embodies the above teaching of the Buddha, which encourages its students to be persistent seekers of true knowledge.
